This past Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Hungary took home 15 medals out of which eight were gold. It is also the eight country with the most Summer Olympic medals in history. That’s enough to prove that Hungarian sports are something to be in the lookout for. Hungarians are especially well-known for the prowess at water sports, in particular swimming.
This past May, London hosted the European Aquatics Championship, where Hungary took home an impressive ten gold medals just two months prior to the seven (although only 4 gold) they would take for swimming at the Rio Olympic Games. It was Katinka Hosszú who not only received a gold medal for her 200m freestyle, but also set a new European Championship record while at it. That put Hungary in first place for swimming, and only in second after Britain in the overall medal scores of the Championship in London.
