A few years ago, NHS hospitals encountered staff shortage and launched a campaign to recruit doctors from the Czech Republic in the UK. Although certain reglementations made it difficult to hire foreign staff in the hospitals, one thing was obvious: the United Kingdom considered the Czech medical pool to be talented, skilled and needed. A great influx of Czech doctors have since made their move to the UK to provide their services.
Czech doctors have managed to make a name for themselves around the world. The United States, Canada, Germany and other countries have had the fortune to receive their skilled talents for outstanding surgeries, treatments and more. In fact, London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital, one of the best children’s hospitals in the world, has a handful of Czech cardiologists on staff. It was, in fact, Czech heart surgeon Dr. Jaroslav Stark who paved the way for Czech immigrants in the medical field, after he migrated to England and made a name for himself in the late 1960s.
British Citizens Searching for Treatment Abroad
Their skillset is so in-demand, in fact, that many British patients are flying out to Czech Republic in search for important treatments. Infertility in women is one of the top reasons women seek medical attention outside of the United Kingdom, and the Czech Republic is one of the top destinations for it. It comes as no surprise that the NHS and other private hospitals are turning their head to countries like the Czech Republic to hire staff.
