Double Dutch Drinks: Adding To The Entrepreneurial Spirit

I would like to raise a toast to Dutch twins, Joyce and Raissa de Haas, the UK’s youngest contributors to the UK beverage industry. The Double Dutch duo, like many entrepreneurs began brainstorming their business idea in the kitchen back in Antwerp, making juices and mixed drink concoctions to add a little flavour to the house parties.

Once they had graduated they decided to do their masters in Technology and Entrepreneurship at University College London, where they won the Bright Idea Award for aspiring entrepreneurs. Luckily for us, the duo used the cash prize to launch their business, Double Dutch Drinks, turning their bright idea into a reality.

Making The Perfect Mixer

A lot of hard work went into making the first batch of prototypes: the duo learnt about food pairings, spoke to mixologists and tested their recipes with over 120 different types of spirits, including rum, tequilas, vodkas and rums (imagine the hangover!) before deciding on their first two flavours: Cucumber & Watermelon and Pomegranate & Basil.

Since their first batch went on the market in 2015, the duo have hit the ground running. Their super posh soft drinks can be found in the most sophisticated of establishments in London, including Corrigan’s Mayfair, Harvey Nichols and The Dorchester.

The duo are currently in the process of releasing two new flavours and also are deciding whether to branch out to other spirit-loving countries like Spain in the coming year.
