Australia’s Traditions Alive in London

In 2013, there were well over 100,000 Australians recorded to be living in the UK. Needless to say, thousands of Aussies calling London home refuse to let their traditions stay in Oceania.

The Australian Women’s Club

The AWC opens the doors for the many Australian women wishing to reconnect with their fellow countrymen. The club is run by Dr. Buzz McCarthy and was created to keep Australian traditions alive while still being able to enjoy the best of the London life. Members are able to join and participate in the many events such as Australia Day, coffee mornings at the Australian Centre with successful Australian guest speakers (such as the Queen’s Assistant Private Secretary), film afternoons, theatre nights, pub outings and many other activities.

Britain & Australia: Good Mates

Websites such as InterNations are great for seeking out your fellow countrymen. Their events section highlights the best upcoming events for Australians in London.

Clubs such as the Britain-Australia Society also offer a wide array of events to dribble about and strengthen relationships between the countries’ people “through mutual interests in commerce, public service, education, entertainment, culture and sport”.
